Opening Day Verbier
Day 1 and the snow was good, the air was warm and you could ski Lac Des Vaux and Attelas-Ruinettes! Not a bad start, the earliest for a long time. Must be a good omen. While the slopes were being enjoyed in Verbier, the tourist office is over in London running its very successful stand at the Metro London ski show. Probably the best stand at the show! This slide show is not quite as extensive as we’d hoped because our nanny (pictured) was taken out avoiding a collision with some bomber! So the rest is up to you to imagine. Lifts open again tomorrow and then again next weekend.
Snow joke! It really happened in October…
Yesterday, we put up photos of it snowing heavily… In case you though we were having you on, here is what Verbier looked like this morning.
WOW!
OK people, deep breaths…. It is only 6 weeks till the season kicks off! Keep your eyes peeled for information on opening dates across our three resorts.
A Cheesy / Snowy end to September
September is always a quiet month in Verbier. With Summer behind us and the winter a few months away the resort is caught slightly in limbo. However, of one thing is certain, the annual cheese festival in Le Chable will go ahead and it will be fun!
Bagnes Capital de Raclette less formally known as “Cheesemas” was on this weekend. The festival celebrates the Val de Bagnes most famous produce in the way that the Swiss do it best; a massive street festival going on late into the night. With hundreds of stalls selling local produce its difficult not to consume your weight in raclette!
The ES team were there to enjoy the festivities which looked a little like this!
Oh what fun!
More surprisingly in September, was the arrival of some early season snow! We woke up on Thursday morning to a very cool +3*C and a covering of snow above 2000 metres. Good signs for this season? We hope so….
