Hannah Bryans

Hannah Bryans

Hannah Bryans is the Ski School Director here in Zermatt. She is a fully qualified British (ISTD) instructor and Swiss Brevet Federale. Hannah is proud to be a trainer and examiner for the British Association of Snowsport Instructors. She loves training new instructors, helping them develop and find their passion for teaching and skiing.

Hannah had a 1-year hiatus where she completed her PGCE in Secondary Mathematics, but the Alps quickly drew her back. Hannah has spent a decade in Zermatt now and clearly loves it. She says, “every year I look forward to showing my clients how awesome the mountains are with two planks strapped to your feet.”

With her race background, Hannah specializes in advanced piste-skiing. However, with many years experience running the kids group programmes, she is particularly great when it comes to teaching the little ones. Above all, there isn’t a lesson Hannah wouldn’t jump at the chance to teach, no matter your age or background.

Q. Why did you choose to become a ski instructor?
A. Skiing has been my passion since I moved to Switzerland when I was 10 years old. I started with racing as a child, and later on whilst at university I decided that I didn’t want to give up skiing so I got involved in teaching and never looked back!
Q. Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski?
A. My favourite area of Zermatt to ski is the area down from Trock. There’s so much terrain to play with, especially when there’s a foot of fresh powder!
Q. What do you do in the summer?
A. I live all-round in Zermatt. We run summer activity camps for children, Awesome Summer Camps Zermatt. In my spare time I make the most of living in the mountains by hiking, climbing, playing tennis and beach volleyball as much as I can!
Q. What is your favourite restaurant in Zermatt?
A. My favourite restaurant on the hill is Franz and Heidi’s. They do a great quiche!!! In town, my all-time favourite restaurant is Guiseppis. The 8-course taster menu is phenomenal!
Q. Why did you pick Zermatt?
A. I chose Zermatt because of the glacial terrain, which means great skiing all year round and guaranteed snow. Once I moved here, I was lucky to find great people and a beautiful town to accompany the awesome skiing.
Q. What handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?

A. If you’re coming during a peak week, book restaurants in advance in town. You are spoilt for choice in Zermatt, so you don’t want to be disappointed!
