Hugo was born and grew up here in Verbier and has been skiing the slopes here since he first put on skis at the age of 2. Fluent in French and English, he knows every bump and corner of the resort. As a child, Hugo was in the local race club, and then spent a season as the ES Penguin mascot, before qualifying as a ski instructor. Hugo specialises in teaching children and helping them love skiing as much as he does. This is his second season instructing with ES.
August Blanco Back
August was born in Sweden, and has been skiing since before he could tie his own shoes. Since then, he has worked to turn his hobby of skiing into a career. He loves exploring everything from off-piste to snow parks and pistes. Nowadays, you’ll find him carving down the slopes with some of his favorite tunes playing in his ears. With several years of experience working at a ski school in Sweden, he’s excited to bring his passion to Verbier in the winter. When he’s not on the slopes, you’ll find him catching the wind in a small sailing dinghy.
Charlotte Nyström
Charlotte Nyström has been skiing for as long as she can remember. Before coming to Verbier she worked for six years at a ski school in Sweden. On her days off you’ll find her carving in the slopes and during the summers she sails and plays golf. Age or ability does not matter, her enthusiasm and friendly nature will help improve your skiing whilst having fun!
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I choose to teach skiing because I want everyone to be able to experience the freeness of hitting the perfect carve in a fresh slope. Too be apart of a community of happy people. To teach people how to ski is also not the easiest thing, I love a challenge!
What makes you special as an instructor?
I think my ability to really understand peoples wants and needs makes me a good instructor. I’ve worked with a lot of different people in various ages, in various sports. It has given me perspective and experience I am very greatful for.
What do you do in the summers?
When I’m not studying psychology and behavioral science and the summer rolls around I sail. I’ve worked as an sailing instructor at the Royal Swedish Yacht Club. The children are between eight and fifteen years old. I love it and I’m having so much fun.
Where is your favourite part of your resort to ski/ride?
Mont Fort when with friends. I enjoy the back side of Savoleyres when I’m teaching kids.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Verbier?
Cabane de Mont Fort when on the mountain and a classic pizza at Fer a Cheval after a day in the slops.
It might be the swede in me but I also really enjoy Le Shed.
Why did you choose Verbier?
I’ve always loved coming to Verbier with my family growing up so it felt like a obvious choice. I love the relaxed feeling in the village and the evidently great skiing.
Matilda Enser
Matilda is a happy and energetic Swedish girl who loves to be on the slope and around other people. She has skied since a very young age and spent her whole youth training and competing in alpine skiing. Since it was time for Matilda to end her own career she grew a big passion for teaching everything she knows to children, which have resulted in 4 seasons as an alpine skiing instructor.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I love skiing and it is my favorite type of activity to do. Being able to combine my passion in life together with work is a dream come true. It is an honor to be someone the students, and especially kids look up to and to see them improve.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I am a very caring person who is good at reading people. I am adaptable and have a good eye on which type of teaching each individual needs.
What do you do in the summers?
I spend my whole summers in Stockholm’s archipelago sailing and driving boats. I love being on the water and in the nature.
Where is your favourite part of your resort to ski/ride?
My favorite part to ski at in Verbier is the pists around Mont Fort or a good powder day in Savoleyres.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Verbier?
I love a good lunch at Cabane Mont Fort but also the chicken in a basket at Al-Capone
Why did you choose Verbier?
I usually spend 1-2 weeks every year in Verbier together with my family and love it. I love Verbier as a skiing resort but also the village.

Paulina Engel
Paulina has worked as a ski instructor since 2018, mainly in the Swedish mountains and in her hometown. Paulina is at moment studying at university but takes every free moment to go to the mountains to teach and ski. She is outgoing and friendly and ready to teach you despite your age and level.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I decided to become a ski instructor as I have always had a passion for snowsports and also enjoy coaching.
What do you do in the summers?
During the summers I work as a Camp counsellor where I’m responsible for implementing different activities for the kids. Besides work I like to do plenty of outdoor activities such as surfing, kayaking and trekking.
Emelie Weil
Emelie is an enthusiastic and easy-going ski instructor, and her love for skiing and the resort is contagious. Her energy and positivity make learning a fun and memorable experience. Having lived in Verbier as a child, Emilie knows the ins and outs of of the resort and is a great guide. She enjoys meeting new people from all over, and will ensure that her clients make the most of every day on the slopes.
