Gemma is a seasoned ski instructor with 13 seasons experience, sharing her passion for skiing in Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia. Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I choose to teach skiing as I find fulfilment in helping others learn to do a sport I am passionate and get so much joy from. I love seeing the joy on their faces when they see their own progress.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I believe my empathy and patience makes me a special instructor as I recognise the divers needs and abilities of each learner to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
What do you do in the summers?
Over the past 4 years I have spent my summers in New Zealand for their winter season where I am a Team Leader. During this time I have taught a wide range of students to ski.
Where is your favorite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
My favourite run in Zermatt to ski/ride is Tufternkumme; a red run that starts at Rothorn and descends down to the new Kumme bubble. It is a cruisy and long run hidden away from crowds.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?
My favourite restaurant in Zermatt is Alphitta as it boasts incredible views of the Matterhorn, a great terrace and great food.
Why did you choose Zermatt?
I choose to teaching in Zermatt as it offers a vast snowshoe ski area with over 360 kilometers pistes. Not to mention the breath taking scenery.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Make sure to check the weather forecast and dress accordingly, as the weather in Zermatt can be unpredictable, especially at higher altitudes.
