Flavia Carvalho

Flavia draws on a lifelong love for skiing, starting at age 4. With global skiing experiences, including a recent season in New Zealand, Flavia brings a dynamic and international perspective to teaching. Seeing skiing as both an art and a sport, she imparts a contagious enthusiasm for the slopes. Her youthful energy and commitment to fun create a vibrant learning environment, that welcome all ages. Despite being a newer instructor, Flavia’s fresh outlook adds excitement to the learning journey. In Switzerland, she looks forward to guiding you through the experience of mastering the slopes.

Why did you choose to teach snowsports?

Becoming an instructor fulfills a childhood dream inspired by witnessing the impact that instructors have on mountain experiences. Teaching allows me to share the joy of skiing, witness progression, and cultivate lifelong appreciation for the sport, scenery, and shared moments with friends and family, which I love.

What makes you special as an instructor?

I believe I bring a unique vibe to lessons, because I came into the world of ski instruction recently and am full of energy and enthusiasm for the new challenge. I am eager to teach others, as well as learn and absorb as much as I can through instructing.

What do you do in the summers?

During the summers, I usually visit family and friends in the United States, as well as my grandparents in Portugal.

What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?

I have epic memories of eating the most heavenly carrot cake after a long hike at the Hornlihutte restaurant at the base of the Matterhorn.

Why did you choose Zermatt?

I fell in love with Zermatt during my first trip there with my family. In high school, I spent 4 months in Zermatt with a program called Swiss Semester, where we spent loads of time learning about the area and exploring the mountains. I had to come back for more!
