Damon has been teaching skiing since 2019, chasing winters in Australia, Japan and Switzerland – avoiding summer at all costs! Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, he enjoys meeting people from around the world and helping them grow their skills on snow. His patient, friendly approach makes learning enjoyable for skiers of all ages and abilities.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I fell in love with skiing when I was 7 and as soon as I found out that I could make a career out of sharing my love for the sport with others, it wasn’t even a question.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I’m patient, positive and won’t let you give up! Unless it’s time for a coffee or hot chocolate. I keep things laid back and cruisy, explaining technique in a way that’s easy for you to understand.
What do you do in the summers?
Whenever I find myself in warmer weather, I’ll be surfing, hiking, camping or just enjoying some good company.
Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
I love to practice my mogul skiing whenever I find a fun bumpy line!
Why did you choose Zermatt?
For the endless skiable terrain, awesome people from all over the world and of course, the breathtaking views.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Be safe in the mountains, but have as much fun as humanly possible!
