Mauro’s journey into skiing began in his mother’s belly, and by the age of 2, he was already on skis, igniting his lifelong passion for the mountains. Now, he carves “ass to grass” and freerides with friends, inspired by his skiing grandpa who continued until age 86.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
My best memories from my childhood are the ski holidays and the ski instructor has been the person who really made the vacations outstanding. I want to give this feeling back to as many people as possible, hoping I can also make their vacations unforgettable. My slogan is: Do more of what makes you happy 🙂
What makes you special as an instructor?
About 280-300 days skiing per year is a lot even for ski instructors. It is hard to find other instructors who are as passionate about instructing as I am. This brought me through many different ski instructor associations (including 2 German systems, Irish and Swiss of course) as well as putting me in touch with the Argentinian, British, Italian and French systems. Therefore I have a diverse toolbox for any technical and mental challenges. Also my passion for skiing brought me through many different countries; that’s why I speak English, German, Italian, Spanish and French. My professional pathway includes some of the world’s best resorts including Zermatt, Verbier and Bariloche.
What do you do in the summers?
As I am chasing the snow in South America during European summers I never really have any summer. Over there I do loads of ski-touring, freeride competitions and of course ski teaching as well.
Where is your favourite part to ski/ride?
Backside Mont Fort: so many great options & secret forest (sorry I can’t share the secrets here:))
Why did you choose this resort?
Verbier is one of the best resorts worldwide for freeride skiing, packed with amazing people to learn from and share with. Also the bumps are quite epic. So this must be a place which makes a Mauro happy:)

Mauro went above and beyond with being my ski instructor. He was knowledgeable, patient, and was every bit delightful through the whole day of lesson. He was able to progress me in a skier in a day more than I could ever imagine. He helped me through out the whole experience from ski gear, lift passes, best spots to go to, tips and tricks, and everything else in between. His passion for skiing was also something that motivated me to continue skiing. 100% amazing experience.

Mau was the best!! My kids aged 4 and 8 both progressed and had a great time. He was patient and we couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. And all this from someone who is also a mountaineer and has climbed the Matterhorn! How inspiring!! We will definitely look Mau up again when we come back to Zermatt!! Our ski lesson was the highlight of our trip!!

Mauro was an amazing instructor, the best I’ve had so far! He got me so much more comfortable with speed and helped me so much with my form, could not be more grateful to him for our lesson. I wish I was staying longer to take more lessons with him, he was 10/10 and I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level.

I had some fantastic days together with Mauro as my Ski-Instructor. Based on his fantastic skills and with his passion he was able to teach me a lot about skiing and sports in the mountains. I really enjoyed the time as I made a lot of progress and we also had a lot of fun!
