Louis is a kind, energetic and highly motivated ski instructor with an unwavering passion for skiing. He truly believes that skiing is a sport for everyone and the one thing holding people back is not their physical ability, but the words “I can’t do it”. Louis can help both new and experienced skiers find their pace with skiing while having a blast and learning along the way. He has experience teaching all ages and capabilities and can ensure you have an unforgettable experience no matter what.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I chose to teach snow-sports because I want people to experience the same sheer joy from skiing as I do. Skiing gives me so much enjoyment that if I can spread even just a fraction of that feeling, then I’ve succeeded at my job.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I have an unwavering belief that every single human can succeed at skiing in some capacity. This helps me remain highly motivated and supportive no matter the circumstances. My goal is to instil the belief in hesitant people that they are so much more capable than they give themselves credit for.
What do you do in the summers?
A love to travel, especially to hot places. Despite choosing a job that requires cold temperatures, I hate the cold. So when I have the opportunity I love to travel to new places and enjoy the heat.
Where is your favorite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
Furggsattel, at the top of the Matterhorn Express Gondola, is genuinely the greatest run I have ever skied on in my life. The long, wide piste is perfect for carving and really just having as much fun as possible, without worrying about uneven terrain.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?
Chez Vrony is a classic and how couldn’t it be, with one of the best views of the Matterhorn from their outdoor seating. Beautiful views and amazing food, what more could you want?
Why did you choose Zermatt?
I chose Zermatt because it is the ideal location for both teaching and ski performance. It has a lovely level progression through its slopes which is ideal for deciding where to take clients. It is also varied enough to challenge my ability no matter what I’m practicing.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Download the app “Skiguide Zermatt”. It is free and shows every single restaurant, bar, slope and lift throughout the entire resort on a 3D map, ensuring you will never be lost again. It is also very reliable for seeing what slopes/lifts are open/closed due to conditions or time of day
