Damon has been teaching skiing since 2019, following the winters between Australia, Japan, and Switzerland; avoiding summer whenever possible. Originally from Melbourne, he enjoys meeting people from around the world and helping them develop their skills on snow.
His patient and friendly approach makes learning enjoyable for skiers of all ages and abilities.
Why did you choose to teach snowsport?
I fell in love with skiing at the age of seven. As soon as I realised I could turn that passion into a career, there was no doubt in my mind.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I am patient, positive, and encouraging. I keep lessons relaxed and enjoyable, and I explain technique in a clear and simple way. And of course, I always make time for a coffee or hot chocolate break when needed.
What do you do in the summers?
Whenever I am in warmer climates, I enjoy surfing, hiking, camping, and spending time with good friends.
Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
I enjoy skiing moguls whenever I find a fun, challenging line.
Why did you choose Zermatt?
Zermatt offers endless terrain, an international atmosphere, and incredible views. It is a fantastic place to ski and meet people from all over the world.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Be safe in the mountains, but have as much fun as humanly possible!
