    12/02/09 Weather Report Verbier

    Winter wonderland…

    Thursday:
    Brace yourself for the extremely cold weather about to hit Verbier. Snowfall continuing, heaviest in the morning when winds will be less strong. Wind Speed will increase by the afternoon and the change in wind direction from NW to N will persist over the next few days.

    Friday:
    High winds, 30km/h… Low temperatures, -27’C windchill!!! Snow showers possible, but hostile winds will contribute to wind-packed snow conditions. Be prepared, make sure you have all the necessary equipment and stick to areas you know well as visibility will be bad.

    Monday:
    Milder temperatures and moderate winds, snow fall should continue but be light. Low visibility conditions on piste, and an icy base under the fresh wet layer of snow so may be slippy. Take care!

    Tuesday:
    Very strong winds from the out set, approx. 40km/h and -22’C wind chill. Expect snow all day, getting heavy by the afternoon and continuing as such through the night.

    Friday:
    Strong southerly winds continuing, but expect less severe than previous days, around 14 km/h. Temperatures of -5’C and cloudy skies threatening snow from the late afternoon.

    Saturday:
    Milder temperatures and the onset of snow following a heavy fall overnight. Moderate winds 10km/h with a change in direction during the afternoon, from SW to NW.

    Calm before the storm…

    Wednesday:
    Expect the current conditions to continue for the next couple of days. Moderate SW winds will provide a wind chill factor of -10’C. There is a slight possibility of snow showers during the day.

    Thursday:
    Get ready for the wind swept look! A brighter start to the day, but winds are due to increase 25 to 30 km/h, and with a change in wind direction by the afternoon it will feel ‘fresh’. These high winds are set to stay for the next few days, and hopefully snow will follow by the weekend!

    Tuesday 3rd February 2009.
    Bring on the snow!!
    The snow will keep on falling, but be prepared it will be cold! The temperature will drop as low as -18˚C at the top lifts and not get above zero in town dropping much lower in the evening so wrap up warm. Great news it should be light winds so the Pow will be awesome.

    Wednesday 4th February 2009.
    Expect much of the same as Tuesday, fingers crossed the snow will keep falling!

    Monday:
    Moderate to light snow fall expected throughout the day, along with winds as strong as 30km/h in places making it feel very cold indeed, wind chill -17’C. Best to stick to more sheltered ski areas and remember a face protector or scarf to prevent bright red wind burnt cheeks at apres!

    Tuesday:
    Continued light snow fall, but generally lesser winds. It shouldn’t feel as cold as previous days, wind chill -10’C. Lots of cloud cover, so be prepared for flat light conditions; maintain a strong body posture with good core strength to ready yourself for any unexpected bumps on piste.
