Many skiers know Verbier as one of the Alps’ great winter destinations. But once the snow melts, the mountains reveal a completely different side of themselves. Alpine meadows replace powder fields, hiking trails wind across the mountainsides, and the lift network opens up a huge playground for walkers, mountain bikers, families and outdoor enthusiasts. Welcome to Summer in Verbier!
At European Snowsport, we spend a lot of time in Verbier throughout the year, and many of our instructors live in resort long after the ski season ends. If you’re wondering whether it’s worth returning in summer, the answer is a definite yes.

Explore Verbier on Foot

Summer is the perfect time to discover the mountains at a slower pace. This year, visitors will be able to collect detailed hiking guides and brochures covering the hiking routes of Verbier, the Haut Val de Bagnes nature area, and the surrounding villages including Le Châble, Vollèges and Bruson. These are available from the Tourist Office in Verbier and Le Chable.
Whether you’re looking for a gentle family walk or a full day in the mountains, the extensive network of trails makes it easy to experience the scenery that winter visitors rarely get to see.
One of the highlights of summer is simply riding the lifts, stepping off at altitude and enjoying the views across the Valais Alps before wandering through alpine pastures and mountain restaurants.
Discover Verbier by Bike

If skiing is your favourite mountain sport, mountain biking might become your favourite summer activity. Don’t forget you can rent bikes from our partners at Mountain Air.
Verbier continues to develop its reputation as one of the Alps’ leading bike destinations, with dedicated mountain bike trail guides and a comprehensive bike park guide available for visitors.
For those new to biking, one of the most appealing activities is the Discover E-Bike Verbier experience. Participants ride premium full-suspension e-bikes accompanied by a guide, exploring some of Verbier’s most spectacular viewpoints and mountain landscapes. The activity concludes with a well-earned alpine aperitif, making it an excellent introduction to summer in the mountains.
For more experienced riders, the resort hosts several major biking events throughout the season, creating an exciting atmosphere across the valley.
Take Advantage of Special Summer Lift Prices

A particularly good opportunity for visitors is the series of discounted lift pass days offered during the summer.
On selected Sundays, pedestrians and bikers can purchase a 1-day 4 Vallées pass for CHF 25, making it one of the most affordable ways to explore the mountain network.
The special dates are:
- 5 July
- 2 August (Family Festival at La Chaux)
- 6 September
- 21 September (Closing celebration for the 4 Vallées sector)
If you’re planning a family holiday or a short mountain break, these dates offer exceptional value and are worth building your trip around.

Why Skiers Should Return in Summer

Winter visitors often know Verbier for its steep slopes, legendary terrain and vibrant atmosphere. Summer reveals a different character.
The mountains feel bigger. The villages are quieter. The pace slows down. Instead of focusing on the next run, you have time to appreciate the landscapes, local traditions and mountain culture that make this part of Switzerland so special.
For skiers, there is also something fascinating about seeing familiar terrain transformed. Routes you ski in winter become hiking trails, mountain bike descents or panoramic viewpoints. It gives you a completely new perspective on the resort you thought you knew.
