Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I chose to teach skiing as I absolutely love helping people gain confidence in their skiing, whether it’s from being able to make their first turn or finally complete the black run they’ve always wanted to do, it always makes my day seeing how I can help make a difference.
What makes you special as an instructor?
What makes me special as an instructor would be my ability to be able to connect with my guests so we can both have an enjoyable day. I love to meet new people and am always genuinely interested in everyone I meet.
What do you do in the summers?
In the summer I love to go hiking, running and climbing. I usually plan as many backcountry hiking trips as possible to fully get into the outdoors. I have worked as a hiking guide and a raft guide in my previous two summers.
Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
My favourite part would have to be the Italian side for the sun and the good food.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?
My favourite mountain restaurant in Zermatt would have to be Findlerhof because of its cosy vibes and good food.
Why did you choose Zermatt?
I chose Zermatt to be able to ski under the iconic Matterhorn as well as getting the chance to experience a proper European ski season in the alps.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Research where to go and what to do on social media as there is a plethora of super fun activities and places to visit!

Well I guess I felt I was going to be a challengef for any instructor. I am just 80 years of age now and have skied since my 30s but not since before COVID. 10 years ago for my 70th my son and some young, Swiss friends and I skied to Cervinia and back. It was a goal. ..tick.
My son was an excellent skier and also medalled for AUS in 5km open water swimming but sadly died 2.6 years ago from medical negligence in a 3rd world country. I wanted to make him proud of me for my 80th . I knew my instructor had to be special as I was very scared and nervous even though I had followed an exercise program to prepare.
Thank you to ES for choosing Amelia. She was a perfect match for me and such a positive and encouraging and patient young woman. In 2 half day sessions I went from being petrified to her videoing me comfortably turning down the slope. Not only is she technically excellent, her positivity and encouragement helped me feel I was coming back to an earlier stage of my skiing with confidence, enjoyment and love of skiing.
I thought that I just wanted to honour my son and would likely never ski again. Amelia I will go back to Australia and ramp up my exercise and because of your amazing instruction, I may seek you out next year.
Thank you Amelia and ES

Amelia is amazing! We have been lucky to ski with many instructors and she is the very best. She is technically expert but also so friendly and encouraging – she took the time to understand exactly what I needed and really brought the joy back to my skiing. I completely recommend her! Also I must say that ES has been super-helpful and organised as well. All very impressive.
