Saartje has been working as a ski instructor for eight years. For the past five, she has also coached slalom and technical skiing for advanced athletes. This mix of experience allows her to enjoy both introducing beginners to their first moments on skis and helping more experienced skiers build confidence on the mountain.
She loves guiding beginners through their first turns and creating a safe, memorable experience. At the same time, she enjoys challenging advanced skiers to refine their technique, explore their limits, and reach the next level. She brings patience, enthusiasm, and a true passion for skiing to every lesson.
What makes you special as an instructor?
I combine patience, technical knowledge, and passion. With eight years of teaching experience and a strong background in slalom coaching, I adapt my approach to each skier. I create a safe and positive environment while helping people progress, gain confidence, and enjoy their time on the mountain.
What do you do in the summers?
In the summer, I love travelling as much as possible. I enjoy going to festivals and spending relaxed days surfing or at the beach with friends.
Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
One of my favourite runs is piste 71 on the Theodul Glacier. It is wide and open, making it perfect for carving. The changing steepness keeps it interesting, and it often stays in great condition throughout the day.
What is your favourite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?
Restaurant Perren offers a great selection of local dishes and is always a nice place to stop.
Why did you choose Zermatt?
I chose Zermatt for its world-class skiing, international atmosphere, and excellent off-piste options. The terrain offers endless opportunities to explore, and ski touring is always a highlight. With the Matterhorn as a backdrop, it is the perfect place to grow as an instructor.
What top handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?
Ski over to the Italian side of the area. It offers a fun change of scenery and incredible views from the mountain pass. It is a great way to experience the full beauty of the Matterhorn region.
Saartje’s clients say:
« Saartje provided my grandson with a wonderful time on the slopes of Zermatt. Building his confidence, teaching control with parallel and giving opportunities for fun on little off-piste runs and the Glacier Paradise. He loved going off with her in the mornings. A big thank you! »- TripAdvisor, 7 February 2026
