Toby learned to ski at the age of four and has never stopped exploring the mountains. He enjoys spending time outdoors all year round — from winter skiing to summer adventures such as hiking, canoeing, open-water swimming and bike touring. He has a strong passion for both alpine and cross-country skiing in Sweden, where he lives and works as a ski school manager at Stockholm’s largest ski resort. During peak winter weeks, Toby also teaches in other destinations, most often in Switzerland among the most beautiful mountains of the Alps.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I’ve been skiing since age three and teaching since 2003. Sharing great ski days with guests -often their best days of the year- is a privilege. Skiing runs in the family: my father was a ski coach, and my daughter is now also an instructor. It’s truly a lifelong passion.

What do you do in the summers?
Outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, open-water swimming, golf, cycling, camping and discovering new adventures with family and friends. I also have a passion for good food, barbecue and outdoor cooking over open fire.
Where is your favorite part of Zermatt to ski/ride?
I love the red slopes and nearby off-piste areas around the Furggsattel chairlift — usually cold, dry snow and playful.
What is your favorite restaurant/mountain restaurant in Zermatt?
I’m a true ski-and-eat foodie, and Zermatt/Cervinia is full of favourites. On the Italian side, Ullas (Chalet Etoile) and Love are must-visits. In Zermatt, an afternoon at Chez Vrony or Alphitta’s terrace is hard to beat- and ending the day at Cervo Après-ski is a privilege.

Toby was my daughter’s instructor for 6 days. She is 4 years old and it was her first experience in the mountains ans skiing. He was absolutely fantastic with her, used different techniques to keep her motivated and tought her all the basics! After a few days they ventured out of the kids park and she got her first taste of an easy blue slope with the help of Toby which made her even more excited and fascinated with skiing! Toby was one of the best ski teachers I have ever had. I have been taking lessons in the last couple of years but my style was never good and I couldn’t do any red slopes or difficult blues. After three hours of a private lesson with him, I can ski down the red slopes without any problems for the first time in my life.
He gave me very good tips that helped me aid my skiing style and now I am less tired after the runs and able to do the steep slopes.
