Hey! My name is Jon and I am from the USA! I grew up playing American Football, fishing and spending my days on the lake with my family and friends! I came to rock climbing and snowsports when I attended a guide program in Finland (I am half-Finnish). Since then I have worked in a variety of guide positions in the USA, but as well within the ski and snowboard industry! I have spent the last couple of years exploring the West half of the USA with my partner in search of fresh tracks, and good rock climbing opportunities. I am dual certified with the Professional Ski Instructor Association of America and the American Association of Snowboard instructors.
Why did you choose to teach snowsports?
I have been working as an instructor in a variety of positions all my adult life. Working in service of others is one of the most enjoyable experiences you can have. I’m drawn back to instructing every season because of the friends I’ve made, and the people I’ve met. I love working with people of all abilities, but especially the groms!
What makes you special as an instructor?
I am a people person and driven to see my students goals made real. But of course, snowsports aren’t all about the perfect turn, it is more than that, it’s about the perfect experience and I’m driven to make that happen.
What do you do in the summer?
I am always working as an instructor or guide in some capacity. The past few summers, I have worked as a climbing guide and trainer, normally introducing clients to lead climbing or teaching new instructors “the ropes”.
Where is your favourite part to ski/ride?
Wherever the snow’s the best! Duh…
