Empty slopes and good snow coverage on the slopes of Verbier make it about the best the Alps has to offer at the moment. Yesterday’s blue skies have given way to a cooler overcast day today. This is good in that it is preserving the snow we have and perhaps heralding more to come!

Seekers of fresh tracks are having to look hard, however there is still said to be some powder available on skiers left down Tortin and also on Stairway to Heaven (skiers left and a bit of a hike up from Col des Gentianes). The Col des Gentianes – Tortin run is marked as open on the lift maps, but requires careful negotiation between the rocks – possible if you know the route, best avoided if not.
Snow on the higher areas such as Lac Des Vaux and La Chaux is soft powder over occasional hard pack areas. But there are so few people up at the moment that there are some high speed carving opportunities on most of the pistes down the hill and no queues anywhere……………enjoy it while you can!
