Harrison Jones

blankHarrison is currently 23 and has been teaching skiing he was 18. He is an outgoing young man that is always both caring and encouraging. He takes a light-hearted and fun approach to skiing rather than a competitive or fast paced approach.

Why did you choose to become a ski instructor?

I choose to teach skiing because I can remember my childhood ski instructors fondly. They taught me to be confidant, daring and I learnt new things all the time. I hope that I can do the same for many others. I also love meeting new people and helping others.

Where is your favourite part of Zermatt to ski?

My favourite area to ski in Zermatt is Riffelberg with its flowing and undulating terrain and open views of the Matterhorn and surrounding mountains.

What do you do in the summer?

I have done many jobs in summers from teaching skiing in New Zealand, Car Sales, Admin roles and I have worked as an Activity Instructor and Group Leader at Kids summer camps.

What handy tip do you have for anyone visiting Zermatt?

My top tip for Zermatt is to remember to take time to take in the views and incredible surroundings. It’s easy to get caught up trying to ski hard and fast all day which is always good fun but sometimes you just need to breathe and take it all in.

What is your favourite restaurant in Zermatt?

My favourite place to eat is Alphitta, I love their Mountain Lasagne, it reminds me of home. Although it is hard to beat a quick coffee break with a view at Chez Vrony on a sunny day with cosy outdoor seating and spectacular views of the Matterhorn and traditional huts.
